Lightweight, Durable Level III Rifle Protection

Polyethylene (PE) body armour plates—also known as UHMWPE ballistic plates—provide a lightweight yet highly durable solution trusted by law enforcement, military, and security professionals. These plates use densely layered UHMWPE fibres compressed into a strong, impact‑resistant structure that delivers reliable multi‑hit performance while prioritizing mobility and comfort. PE hard plates are noticeably lighter than steel or ceramic and are widely chosen for extended-wear applications.

These plates are available as single units or in matched pairs.

Key Features & Benefits

Lightweight & Comfortable: PE hard plates are significantly lighter than steel or ceramic, reducing fatigue during extended wear. Each plate weighs approximately 1550 g (3.42 lb).
Multi‑Hit Capability: The material absorbs and distributes energy around the projectile instead of cracking, supporting dependable multi‑hit performance.
Strong & Durable: UHMWPE is often cited as “15× stronger than steel” by weight (tensile‑strength context).
Protection Level: Typically rated NIJ Level III, capable of stopping common rifle threats such as 7.62×51 mm NATO M80 Ball (baseline NIJ Level III test) and 5.56×45 mm M193 (model dependent).
Shooter’s Cut, Single Curvature: Provides shoulder clearance and an ergonomic fit suitable for active movement.
Drop‑Damage Resistant: With no brittle ceramic strike face, the plates do not shatter when dropped during normal handling.
Protective Outer Shell: Covered in a durable polyester‑nylon wrap for abrasion and moisture resistance.

Value Statement
A performance‑driven lightweight plate offering strong value within the premium PE hard‑plate category—ideal for extended wear and mobility‑focused setups.

Limitations (Know Your Threats)

Vulnerable to Specialized Ammunition: PE plates may struggle with armour‑piercing or steel‑penetrator rounds such as 5.56×45 mm M855/SS109. For these threats, consider plates rated III+/RF2 or Level IV/RF3.
• 7.62×39 MSC: Performance is model‑dependent; confirm your needs if this calibre is a concern.
• Environmental Sensitivity: PE materials can degrade under prolonged heat or UV exposure; proper storage is recommended.

Types & Usage

• Standalone (SA): Effective on their own to stop Level III rifle threats including 7.62×51 mm M80 Ball (multi‑hit).

• Many UHMWPE Level III plates also list 5.56×45 mm M193 and 7.62×39 as covered threats, depending on construction and testing.
• For armour‑piercing threats such as M855/SS109, consider plates validated as III+/RF2 or Level IV/RF3.
